KEEPING IN MIND OUR MOTHER TONGUE

Many invaders came and tried to invade our country. The cultures, traditions, beliefs some of these were really affected and yet had vanished. But one important thing is that or dialect was able to stand through years and had survived.

Philippines is rich in many dialects. One of these is the dialect which is known as the third most-spoken language of the Republic of the Philippines. Yes, its the ILOCO, the Ilocanos medium of communication. We must be proud Ilocanos because Phlippines is a country of remarkable linguistc diversiy. There are over ninety languages spoken in the country but only seven are considered important and have an extensive written literature and history and our dialect Iloco is included among the seven dialects. This is so important that its because of this dialect where our place got its name. The entire region was then called by the ancient name " Samtoy" from "sao ditoy" which in Ilocano mean "dialect." But as time passes by, I have observed that Iloco is neglected now. For many would like to use other languages. Well its not that bad to learn other dialect but not to the extent that this dialect would be forgotten. Indeed, Iloco is a great dialect, why? Because of the many literary works where this dialect was used. Just like the Biag ni Lam-ang by Pedro Bukaneg . And this is being studied now by the students. That is why in order to know this epic one has to learn Iloco.
It is so important to know this dialect. For this is one way of showing our love and respect to our place. Let us continue using this dialect. Let us keep in mind our mother tongue.Let us communicate through Iloco.

REFLECTION

This third grading was not easy for me!

Yes, third grading is about to end again. Before anything else let me thank all the people who are behind my success. My parents, teachers, classmates, friends and most especially to the Lord. I’m so much thankful for all the information and knowledge I have garnered. Like the HTML tags, HTML image, how to align images, how to adjust the sizes of images. Also the HTML links and Hypertext/Hyperlinks.
And to the fact that we are now on the last stage of our High School or secondary life, we are about to graduate already. I promise myself to apply all the lessons I have learned. I will never forget my teachers who molded the best in me. I can say that all my sacrifices and hardships are worth it.
Success is the fruit of sacrifices. Let us study harder and reach our goals!!!

NEW YEAR, NEW ME

“Let the lesson of the past serve as a teacher in our journey today. May this New year bring out the new us.”
It’s really hard to move in place where we are stuck on. But I must in order to bring out the best in me. This 2012 is known as the Year of the Water Dragon. Different beliefs about this year are one of the topics most talked about. But I believe that it is in our hands lie our future. This New Year I want to bring out the new me. New life, new attitudes. New life in such a way that I’ll forget all those bad memories. I will change the things that can destroy my future. My bad habits, and everything that is really needed to be changed, just to bring out the best in me. New attitudes, but good things will stay. I want to erase the bad attitudes of me that was my weakness and my problems in garnering my dreams. I will use the lesson of the past to travel this journey in life. And nevertheless I will ask the assistance of God in attaining an exquisite future.
Life is full of obstacles and problems. We may succeed and sometimes we fail but we must do our best because I believe our best will take us to the stage of success. I do hope that I can bring out the new me.

MAKING DIFFERENCES

It is a reality that the leaders whom we believe will lead this country are the ones who do graft and corruption. We have just heard from the news about the impeachment of Chief Justice Renato Corona. And what is alarming here is that we, Filipinos are affected of what is happening in the government.
Before anything else, let us try to imagine this country as a progressive, developing yet free from graft and corruption. Isn’t it better to live? But what is really happening is the reverse of this. The poor are always poor and the rich will always be rich. Being a citizen of this country, I want a big CHANGE! A change in which all will be benefitted. And this change I am pertaining to is a change in the leaders of this country. Leaders that are forever loyal to their responsibilities and obligations. Leaders who will seek for the progress of this country. For I believe that a better future is waiting for us if these leaders are also doing the right thing. And all of us can be leaders. We are leaders in our simple ways. Like in helping the programs of our government. Yet through helping the government officials in their tasks and responsibilities in this country.
I am looking forward for a country free from graft and corruption. Altogether let us make a change, let us make a difference. Let us all act for this country.

ESSENCE OF CHRISTMAS

"CHRIST" from this word Christmas was derived. Yes, its the one and only reason why we do commemorate it.Yet, Christmas is known as the longest festival celebrated as the 'ber months' start.
We all know that it is the birth of our dear savior. As it is celebrated during the 25'th of December. And we can not hide the fact that filipinos are very rich when it comes to culture and traditions. We can see the christmas lights, Christmas trees and other decorations. We can also witness the people attending the misa de gallo. Exchanging gifts, Christmas carollings and most especially to the Christmas eve wherein families and relatives are brought together by this special event to celebrate it. But before anything else let us put in mind that the true essence of christmas is CHRIST. Wherein we must be a good children of God through LOVE, SHARING and FORGIVENESS. Love, love those people who truly care for you. Our families, friends and others. We must put mind that it is because of love why the Lord has sacrificed his own begotten son, that is why we must learn how to love and respect each other. Sharing, we must have to share whatever blessings and graces we received form heaven. I believe that this is a very important thing in building a fruitful kind of living. Forgiveness, despite of misunderstandings, quarrels and hatred we must learn how to forgive and forget whatever bad things that happened. It is because forgiveness is a tool towards peace and unity.
"CHRIST" he is the true essence of Christmas. Let us put Christ in our minds and hearts for without him we are nothing. Let us spread Love, Sharing, and Forgiveness.

EQUAL RIGHTS, EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES, PROGRESS FOR ALL

Let us imagine a place where there is no discrimination, no exploitation. A place where there is fairness, justice, equal rights, equal opportunities. Isn't it pleasant to live? But in reality is this happening, are all people treated equally?
Yes, God has given us equal rights and equal opportunities. But sad to say we have different economic status. And this makes the differences. Its the fact that the poor ones have less rights and less opportunities. For they are not treated nicely. And the rich are probably the ones that get the chances to enjoy life freely and happily. One of the reasons is the money. Its the money that people are being afraid of, its the money that destroys the rights of people.
Yet, one of the reasons of discrimination is the gender. Particularly to the women's part. We can hear from the television and radios that many women are being maltreated by their husbands. And its a belief that men are likely to have higher rights. And this is unfair to the part of every woman. The third sex also who are known as the gays and lesbians. People think they are nothing to the society, its like they are out of the ordinary. That's why they are being discriminated and not treated fairly.
There are many factors affecting this matter. Like religion, race, ethnicity, culture, traditions and a lot more.
It is that, when people learn to treat everybody with equal rights and equal opportunities, there will be progress, there will be success.

GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE

Have you ever noticed the changes happening in our surroundings? Have you ever wondered why it rains even though its summer time? Why it is so hot even though it is rainy season? Yes, it is very alarming yet it cause adverse effects in our everyday life. And we call it as global climate change. Is there still a solution to this problem we are facing?
Global Climate Change is caused by the accumulation of greenhouse gases in the lower atmosphere. The global concentration of these gases is increasing, mainly due to human activities such as combustion of fossil fuels and deforestation. Who are the one responsible in this situation? Its us, humans that must be the caretaker of mother nature. Its not yet the end of everything. There is still a solution to it. If we cannot do everything, we can do something. Let it start in our own selves. There are a lot of ways to do so. Such as the 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Reduce carbon dioxide through planting trees, not burning plastics, Styrofoams and materials that cause the destruction of our ozone layer. Reuse, most especially to the things which we think don't have any use. For if we just set it aside, it might cause disaster such as flood, erosion, and many disastrous things. Recycle, let us be resourceful enough. Let us still use the things which we have used already.
We cannot hide the fact that the adverse effects of climate change have been suffered by many of us. One is the "Natural Disasters" such as El Niño and La Niña. The loss of lives and properties are some of the common effects of this global climate change. Another thing that is affected is the "Food Security." Climate change affects greatly the agricultural sector. It will result to the risk of hunger, yet poverty follows then. Thus the supply of foods will decrease. Lastly, Infectious Diseases. Temperature can influence the reproduction and survival of the infective agent. Vector-borne diseases are transmitted by insects that are sensitive to temperature, humidity and rainfall.
The future of our planet depends on our hands. Let us bear in mind that our nature plays a vital role in our daily living. Altogether let us bring back the exquisiteness of nature.
        Let us act now!
